We inventory all seven forms of your labor— Wage Work, Experiments, Acts of Service, Upskilling, Caregiving, and Self Care — to see what's actually chewing up your time and energy, what's missing, and where imbalances are costing you. Then we use the last hour and a half to troubleshoot the specific business or portfolio development challenge you want to work through together. Three years ago, I, too, found myself at a bit of a professional crossroads after an unexpected layoff caught me flat footed. The job market had changed, and I was burnt out, lacking a sense of purpose, and looking for a different way to structure and manage my career.
I’ve learned a few things from this process of blowing up my career and starting a business. Like… how building an integrated career requires loads of self-compassion and experimentation! Or how it’s totally normal to feel frustrated, insecure, inspired, and hopeful in the same breath. (Turns out, this cocktail of emotions is the price of admission for doing deeply creative work in a world that
wasn't exactly designed for non-linear careers.)
And last, but most certainly NOT least: it is near impossible to build a career that centers your priorities and your value system on your own. You need a built-in support system and mindset tools to do that. (That’s where I come into help!)
When I’m not busy helping people find a little more professional peace again, you can find me adventuring about the Puget Sound with my husband, reading a good book, or cozying up with my two cats (who remind me regularly that naps by the fire are also a part of the future of work).
